Detect & Prevent Anaphylaxis; a life-threatening condition
Every 6 minutes someone goes to the ER from Anaphylaxis¹
Anaphylaxis is a quick onset severe or fatal allergic reaction caused by exposure to a trigger. ²
The only way to prevent anaphylaxis is to avoid triggers.²
Triggers are most commonly food, insect bites, latex or medications.²
Idiopathic Anaphylaxis isa quick onset severe or fatal allergic reaction that has no known trigger. 6
There is no way to prevent idiopathic anaphylaxis. ³
30-60% of anaphylactic reactions in adults are idiopathic.⁴
Prevention by trigger avoidance when anything can be a trigger is not health management - this is.
PRVNT is a medical implantable device to detect anaphylaxis/idiopathic anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction.
This device will alert you to an oncoming reaction within 60 seconds - saving you precious time to save your life.
Conservatively,
1 in 50 people in the United States have Anaphylaxis.
Research shows it’s more like 1 in 20.⁵
Who is PRVNT?
My name is Joan Moussan, I've had anaphylaxis for 19 years. I have had hundreds of allergic reactions, 50% of those moderately serious 20% serious and 5% where I had to be hospitalized. 95% of my reactions are idiopathic.
I have had 8 different allergists/immunologists before I stopped looking for a way to prevent my anaphylaxis because the only thing they told me I could do was to avoid my triggers to prevent a reaction. That’s hard enough when you know the triggers and impossible when you don’t know them.
There have been several times when I wasn't aware of a reaction until it was too late and I had to be hospitalized. Or other times when even though I took my medication, it wasn't enough and I had to be hospitalized because my throat closed up. The sooner you take your medicine when you have a reaction, the better the outcome.
That’s why I came up with PRVNT, to create a device that would alert you to an oncoming reaction within 60 seconds.
